Excited to welcome Stephanie as a new graduate researcher in the #LEMLab. Thanks Anthony O'Donoghue for the recommendation 😀

We are hiring! Join Verdoes Lab at the LUMC Leiden Immunology department to apply chemistry to pioneer the next generation cancer vaccines: linkedin.com/posts/oncode-a…

Happy to share the latest from #LEMLab's Alex Ziegler and Beth Anderson in collab with Rocco Latorre, Nichollas Scott and Dufourlab. We show that legumain is activated during colitis and identify protease substrates in naive and inflamed colon. doi.org/10.1002/jcp.31…

It's been a big week for this proud supervisor. I am so pleased to announce that Alex Ziegler has been awarded the Bill Sawyer Medal, which recognises outstanding achievements of Graduate Researchers in the Dept of Biochem & Pharm. Alex has had a great year and is so deserving!

I am happy to share a another manuscript by Bangyan Xu, a fun collaboration with Simon and Philip Thompson. We report some new sulfoxonium ylide activity-based probes for cysteine cathepsins. Check it out! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

We’re thrilled to welcome our 14th Snow Fellow, Dr Alisa Glukhova Alisa Glukhova, a structural biologist from WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute). Alisa’s work focusses on how cells communicate and what happens when those signals go wrong, leading to diseases like cancer. snowmedical.org.au

Incredibly excited to share Dr Alisa Glukhova has been awarded a prestigious Snow Medical Fellowship - the only recipient this year! She'll receive $8M over 8 years to advance her groundbreaking #cancer research. Congrats Alisa Glukhova #medicalresearch 🔗 wehi.edu.au/news/wehi-canc…

Excited to share this story from my PhD, out today in Nature Communications. We show that Coxiella removes cathepsin B to reduce lysosomal hostility and promote bacterial success. This depends on a vacuole established by effector CvpB. nature.com/articles/s4146…

We also show that Coxiella incites the extracellular secretion of lysosomal content in a T4SS-independent manner. A wonderfully enjoyable collaboration with Laura Edgington-Mitchell & Hayley Newton labs (with significant mass spec guidance from Nichollas Scott!) Doherty Institute UniMelb MDHS

#News: Phase 2B VISUALIZE study results will be presented by Penn Medicine’s Dr. Sunil Singhal at #ASCO25, demonstrating that intraoperative molecular imaging with abenacianine for injection (VGT-309) during lung surgery has the potential to improve surgical outcomes. More:
