Now that he's no longer calling plays, Ryan Day said he has more freedom with other positions than previously. "I've enjoyed being with the defense and being with the special teams and barking at everybody."

After a mistake on kickoff last week, Ryan Day said they'll evaluate whether Jayden Ballard will continue returning kicks this season. "The number one thing is taking care of the football."

Ryan Day highly praises former Buckeyes who had impressive performances in college football this season. Kyle McCord, Quinn Ewers and Joe Royer were a few names he mentioned.

Despite the Buckeyes having a by-week, Ryan Day said the team has embraced this time off as an "improvement week." "These guys are hungry," Day said. "They don't want to rest right now."

Ryan Day said culture is more important than ever before with the evolution of college football. "There's been a lot of talk about — numbers getting thrown out and everything — well the majority if not all, 90 percent of it was retaining our roster."

Ryan Day on the interaction between him and Denzel Burke on the sidelines after the cornerback was ejected Saturday for targeting. "I gave him a hug and told him there's not much I can do about it right now, and I'll try to make sure I go to bat for you as much as I can."
