States are meeting this week virtually for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention's #19MSP. They must keep their promises and do more, and faster, to ensure nobody lives with the risk of landmines. #LandmineFree2025




56 countries and 3 other areas (territories not recognised as States) still have anti-personnel mined areas globally. Of these, 34 are States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. #Landmines pose a threat to lives, limbs, and livelihoods, and force communities to live in fear. #19MSP


Every number is a life cut short or a limb lost. The latest The Monitor reports a 20% leap in casualties from mines and IEDs. Most accidents were recorded in Syria and Afghanistan. Half of all civilian casualties were children. Read more: the-monitor.org/en-gb/reports/…
