Busy busy busy 🙂 Plenty of folk out enjoying a spectacular Easter Sunday on the fells. Parking was an issue around the more popular mountains. Worth exploring other mountains, different times of day or modes of transport? Zac

Helvellyn's summit plateau was bare rock and patches of snow. This snow was wet but very close to freezing. Hence, although not required here today, microspikes are a sensible addition to your rucksack if ascending the highest peaks on Good Friday. Jon

Today was my 778th ascent of Helvellyn for the National Park & last day as an Assessor; to celebrate the cloud lifted as I climbed the headwall! Thanks very much to everyone for your kind words both written & in person & I look forward to meeting you on the fells in future. Jon

Fresh snow overnight & this morning above 750m adding approx 2cm to average depth at 900m. The crest of Striding Edge, shown here, was mostly bare, damp rock with some soft snow. On its slopes noticeably more snow on the northern side compared with the south facing aspects. Jon
