Three years ago today the Lake District became a #WorldHeritageSite, joining a prestigious list of special places and landscapes around the World.

The sun starts to set on a busy day in the #LakeDistrict. Thanks to all our teams and our volunteers who are out there helping our visitors and our communities to enjoy this special landscape in a safe and considerate way.

As the weather cools, and everything grows more slowly, careless damage to the landscape takes even longer for nature to heal. Please only camp responsibly and leave no trace.
