We're excited to spotlight @NaharaVM, a graduate student in Dr. Anice Lowen's lab, for her outstanding poster presentation and networking skills. Read more about her research, inspiration, hobbies, and more: ow.ly/E1OB50PVefZ
Today I started to work in my new office that used to be the Nobel Prize-winner Albert Szent-Györgyi's at the Department of Molecular and Analytical Chemistry University of Szeged Hungary.
Our discovery and characterization of the first IgA bnAb against flaviviruses is now published in PLOS Pathogens
Congrats to jaylubow Lisa Levoir Duncan Ralph and other key collaborators

Thrilled The Atlantic highlighted our new work on flu transmission - big shout out to Nicole Rockey and our whole mitigate flu team Linsey Marr https://www.threads.net/@linseycmarr Emily Toth Martin Anice Lowen (to name a few) and Flu Lab for funding this ‘crazy’ idea!!
I posted this nice video about #MITIGATEFLU and an article in the Atlantic about S_Lakdawala 🏳️🌈's ferret playpen experiments at threads.net/@linseycmarr
Looking forward to delivering the Keynote address at #ASV2023 tomorrow in Athens, GA! Excited to see many friends and colleagues and meeting new ones. American Society for Virology
#LoveVirology Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
The Comms Committee is ready to help you promote your science with virus trading/info cards and Prizes/Swag!! we have 3D viruses and enamel pins this year! Come see us in the Atrium starting tomorrow Kari Debbink
New work by Linsey Marr https://www.threads.net/@linseycmarr and @lakdawala_lab demonstrate that decay of viruses can be biased based on droplet size and relative humidity. Decay kinetics of influenza H1N1 viruses is more similar to SARS-CoV-2 than bacteriophage Phi6. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…
New paper with S_Lakdawala 🏳️🌈 peter vikesland shows similar decay rates of SARS-CoV-2 & influenza virus in droplets, some differences in wet vs. dry and by initial droplet size. Evaporation dynamics matter. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…
Always a treat to spend time with and hear the science from the Ana Fernandez-Sesma - thanks to Anice Lowen forgetting her to visit Emory School of Medicine #WomenInSTEM
A study in Scientific Reports finds that a commercial toilet flush produces a strong chaotic jet with velocities exceeding 2 meters per second that can transport aerosols as high as 1.5 meters within eight seconds. go.nature.com/3YbLhnN
I know there has been criticism about this or that, but I have to say as someone who has worked on indoor air quality issues for 30 years I am so pleased to FINALLY have both robust discussion and action taken on IAQ by The White House.
