New FOIA from DOI details the border wall's harm to pronghorn:

'The vehicle barrier that was in place prior to the new wall had large animal passages to attempt to ensure habitat connectivity and genetic flow. The new wall prevents movement of pronghorn across the border.'

Border walls in remote areas are useless at stopping people from crossing the border. They're climbed over or cut through in seconds.

The one things walls are effective at stopping are wildlife, blocking animals from accessing forage, water & mates. Video by Sky Island Alliance.

There are so many misconceptions about the border & immigration. A major one: that most migrants cross through unwalled 'open' wilderness.

That's false. CBP data show most crossings occurring in places like Organ Pipe & El Paso where existing border walls are easily defeated.

Border walls don’t belong in wildlife refuges. Pronghorn like these have migrated freely across the invisible line that’s now called the U.S.-Mexico border for millennia.

Now, their habitat is severed in two.

These are places where the stars still shine bright. Where you can see the Milky Way. Where birds, bats & nocturnal wildlife aren’t harassed with light pollution… yet.

Now DHS wants to blast 45 miles of border with stadium-bright lighting, further terrorizing wildlife & harming birds & pollinators.

This will only exacerbate the severe harms border walls have already caused to wildlife.
