Today we cut our key interest rates by 0.25 percentage points. We did this because inflation is settling at around our 2% target, while the economy is facing headwinds.

Most measures of underlying inflation suggest that inflation will settle at around our 2% medium-term target on a sustained basis, said President Christine Lagarde after the Governing Council decided to cut interest rates by 0.25 percentage points.

We stand ready to adjust all of our instruments within our mandate to ensure that inflation stabilises sustainably at our medium-term target, said President Christine Lagarde, after being asked whether the fight against inflation has been won.
