It’s almost as if they are encouraging us to use time based item numbers and hence never know how much antenatal care we’re doing. All the while putting us at risk of failing an audit 🤔

Beautifully said So interesting to see the cultural parallels Let’s not give in to fear What unites us is far greater than that which divides us Vote yes abc.net.au/news/2023-10-0…?

Thank you Michael, for all you do. My mothers GP helped us anchor her final weeks. It is both a privilege and a profound sorrow.

“They man the wall” David knows that if the tsunami we hold back were to hit the hospital sector, it would instantly collapse The disrespect for my profession within the broader healthcare workforce, among the political class & the general public undermines an essential service

Not yet. I am a family doctor in a city practice with 19 like minded GPs. In the last month I met a new patient-male, late 30s-looking for a new GP because the only GP he had known had died in his 80s not long after retiring. That GP had looked after 4 generations of his family.

Hahaha!!! That’s 100% my day! Of course you’d have to add in pregnancy care, rashes, PTSD, sprains and strains, diabetes, chronic pain, etc etc. I am sometimes in awe at how my brain works 😂😂

I've been thinking about the cost of a GP to the govt & community, because apparently its OK to keep your Medicare rebate down to 2007 rates. You're funding the gap, and GPs are closing down. Drs who need to pay off their HECS debts are becoming non GP specialists.

People often say nothing is more important than their family and their health, but when you look at where they spend their time and money, it simply isn’t true. Doubly so for the political class

If I can (& I did), most GPs can. We clearly need to rethink our rural medical workforce options. I don’t have the answers, but I want to start conversations about the multiple options out there. To quote Dr John Kramer, “small steps by many equate to large strides collectively”

So, busy GP who was born and raised in the country but who has lived and worked in the city for 48 years goes bush for a week and finds out that it wasn't scary after all....who knew?! Let's talk about emerging models of care. gps-can.com.au/going-bush

Busy GP who was born & raised country but who has lived and worked in the city for 48 years goes bush for a week and not only had a great time, she found out that she had the skills required for the work she did. Let's talk about emerging models of care. gps-can.com.au/going-bush

Busy GP, born & raised country but who has lived and worked in the city for 48 years goes bush for a week & survived/thrived. I think this is the distilled essence of the difference I noticed. Let's talk about emerging models of care. gps-can.com.au/going-bush

A well thought through and referenced narrative of the decline in recognition of and value for the GP workforce. The evidence is clear: national health outcomes will decline and costs will rise without us. Be aware of what’s at stake
