So many the awards at the Wauconda Invite yesterday! Overall there were 5 lifetime bests, 3 course bests, and 1 season best! Varsity took 5th out of 11 teams, led by medalists Precious Oyebanji and Hannah Roberts!

Last week recap… Tuesday: 9 LPRs +6 CPRs + 1 SPR + 2 more Conference wins at Home! TH: Halloween vs Christmas for our Track Workout & leg-draining! Saturday: 7 LPRs + 2 SPRs + 1 CPR at the Warren Invite! We also placed 11th/19 teams at the Varsity level & 6th/16 teams for JV!

Last night was doubly special as we not only competed in our last quad of the season, beating both Waukegan and Stevenson, and having 10 LPRs + 2 SPRs, but we also got to honor and celebrate our 4 seniors. Thank you to Vivi, Alex, Hannah, and April for your leadership!

Friday Funday 9/27 = HOCO parade! Saturday saw great times & efforts at the extremely competitive Palatine Invite! Overall there were 4 LPRs + 2 CPRs + 2 Course Pace PRs + 7 Lifetime Pace PRs! Then some celebrations at night at the HOCO dance!#runnerswhoHOCOtogetherstaytogether

Great practice at Detweiller with many getting familiar with the course for the first time, followed by a fun team dinner! Ended the night with a reflective and positive mindset session. Excited to see what this group can do tomorrow!

Some great performances today from both our squads! At Peoria, Varsity had 3 lifetime bests + 2 season & course bests and placed 11th out of 31 teams! At the Antioch invite, JV had some course bests and were led by Laly Garcia who earned her first XC medal for 5th in the JV race!

Very grateful to alum Claire Schoenfield for coming to practice Thursday and talking to the team about pain, discomfort & having fun during races! Given last night’s awesome performances & PRs, I’d say they took the messages to heart! Thank you, Claire, for your wisdom & inspiration!

Last night at the Lakes Invite, the team had an explosion of competitiveness & PRs! In total, there were 14 Lifetime PRs, 4 Season bests, & 2 Course bests! Varsity took 8th/16 teams with Precious O., Hannah R. & Brooklyn D. leading the way with massive PRs & all running sub-19!

Fast tempos + speedy partner track workouts + Freelap PRs + Barbie vs Raquelle fun + mindset session on embracing discomfort & competing physically & mentally + traditional thank you notes to our support network + team pasta party dinner = READY for Conference tomorrow!

Yesterday at Conference, there were an impressive 15 lifetime PRs + 2 course bests! In the F/S race, they took 5th overall with Katelyn Tomas leaving the way by medaling in 14th place & PRing by over 2 minutes! In the JV race, Tania Escobar medaled at 18th & another 45 second PR!

Our Varsity competed hard to an impressive 3rd place, our best Conference finish since 2018! Precious, Hannah Roberts, & Brooklyn led the way placing 6th, 9th & 14th overall and earning All-Conference honors! Precious, Hannah & Chloe ran huge lifetime PRs! So proud of this group!

Our Conference Sportsmanship award winner this year was Brooklyn D’Ambrosio! Brooklyn is caring, supportive & encouraging to all. She is selfless, inclusive & always thinking of others & helping them improve. Thank you, Brooklyn, for helping form our team’s culture & character!

This week included our 2-Mile time trial where 7/9 girls ran PRs, a fast workout at the Warren course followed by team dinner, and a great mindset session today about competing, we > me, and building each other up through confidence cards. Ready to COMPETE at Regionals!

CONGRATULATIONS to these girls who placed 6th at Regionals today & qualified for Sectionals as a TEAM for the first time since 2018! All ran course PRs as well! So proud of this group & so excited to get another week together! Thank you to all of those who came & supported too!

Sectional team-qualifying “tiny jackets” + mile time trial w/ nearly 100% lifetime PRs + practice at Busse Woods + parking lot abs & team dinner + mindset session on running fearlessly = this group is ready to race competitively & confidently and have fun at Sectionals tomorrow!

At Sectionals yesterday, we finished 14th out of 18 teams & tied our highest team finish at Sectionals since 2012! They once again showed our strength as a TEAM & what they can accomplish together. Proud of everyone for an amazing season full of growth, success, fun, & love!
