Born free in Newburyport MA, Nancy Prince moved to 's Beacon Hill Black community. She lived in Russia for 10 yrs w/ her husband. Back home, she lectured & fought slavery. In 1847, she & other Black women saved a woman from a slave-catcher in a physical confrontation.
