Yesterday a phlebotomist was making small talk with me and asked my profession. When I responded, he said, "Oh, smart girl." I think he meant well/didn't know what to say, so I was still friendly (he had a needle). But I did wonder how often grown-ass men get called "smart boys."

Watching these scientists learn that they are #PackardFellows is a highlight of my day. I need to see more of these celebratory vignettes for all different kinds of awards!

Crying in frustration at a failed experiment is not being “too emotional.” Jumping up and down with excitement at a successful experiment is not being “unprofessional.” Science is done by human beings, and our human responses are part of being a scientist.

Just went back to notebooks/data from 2016 to answer a reviewer's question and FOUND WHAT I NEEDED. The pug does have bones today...
