Day 1 of the S3 History WW1 Battlefields trip is truly underway! First stop is a visit to Notre Dame French National War cemetery. The group are in great spirits after the ferry ride from Dover across to Calais! 🇫🇷 S3 Year Team Larbert High School


This afternoon our S3 Historians and French pupils visited Cabaret Rouge to learn about people from the Larbert War Memorial. Excellent visit at Vimy Ridge exploring life in trenches and communication tunnels! S3 Year Team S6LHSYT Larbert High School


Day 3: Our pupils have spent the afternoon learning about the stories of soldiers from the Larbert War Memorial who fought and died at the Battle of Some. Lest we forget. Larbert High School S3 Year Team S6LHSYT


Day 3 concludes with a special visit to the Hearts memorial and Deville Wood cemetery. Mr Taylor shared the very emotional story about his Great Uncle and the ultimate sacrifice he paid during the Battle of the Somme. Lest We Forget. Larbert High School S3 Year Team S6LHSYT p



Day 5: We visited the trenches at Sanctuary Wood near Ypres. Pupils were shocked by the rawness of the conditions that soldiers had to endure. Summer R (S6) read Dulce et Decorum est at Vancouver corner where the first gas attack took place in the war. Larbert High School S3 Year Team


Day 5: Final visit was to the Last Post remembrance service at the Menin Gate. Over 500 members of the public attended. The service was incredibly moving & Rory M and Isabella M (S3) laid a wreath on behalf of Larbert High School . Dexter F did a fantastic job playing the bagpipes!
