We need to plant many more native trees in urban spaces, and better protect and value existing ones. This helps nature and wildlife. It's #ClimateAction. It reduces floods, pollution and urban heating. And it improves our lives. More: bit.ly/2eMCYds Via The Nature Conservancy

A lovely note from Sir David landed on the mat this week as the campaign to #SaveCotonOrchard & Madingley Hill Preservation ramps up. Cambridgeshire County Council hasn’t submitted the application yet, doing so will trigger a public inquiry due to strong opposition. So why is this route moving forward at all❓🤔

We need to rewild 30% of the planet to restore nature & protect our wildlife, but Britain is falling behind. So I've signed this new petition calling on one of our biggest landowners - the Church of England - to rewild its land. Join me? you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/prom… via 38 Degrees

Insect populations are crashing – and this has a negative impact on insect-eating birds like swallows, robins and house sparrows. Growing nectar-rich plants and not using pesticides are two ways we can help. More ideas: bit.ly/4fTtyus #nature #biodiversity

Kitchen sponges like these have a short lifespan and release microplastics as they degrade. Microfibre cloths shed microplastics every time they’re washed, harming marine environments. For plastic-free, eco-friendly alternatives see: bit.ly/42rwUOX #plasticpollution

We were delighted to welcome Agriculture & Connectivity Minister Jim Fairlie MSP SNP to Argaty last wk. The minister was given a tour looking at riparian woodland restoration, nature-friendly crops & beaver wetlands that are storing water & mitigating against downstream flooding.

Bumblebees can only fly for 40 minutes between feeds. So growing just one nectar-rich plant could be the pit-stop that saves a bee. Helping bees, butterflies, moths, and other pollinators is also a great way to connect with nature! More ideas: bit.ly/44lesqB

Did you know that RPA Countryside Stewardship boosts happiness & pride in place? As well as attracting thousands of pollinators, followed by over 1,000 finch & bunting in winter, our community is telling us how happy & proud these 4 bird food plots have made them feel! 😎

After 2 years of work, I've finally taken delivery of an actual printed copy of my second book 'The Magic of an Irish Rainforest: A Visual Journey'. I've done my best to capture the essence of these priceless, but mostly dying, ecosystems, and am over the moon with the results.
