Predictable: Texas inches towards purple, a threat to Republican dominance. State leadership takes drastic steps—purging voter rolls, targeting our grassroots champions, and voter suppression laws—to push back. We can either give up or keep going. Let’s keep going.

Important discussion on DEI in Texas happening, featuring Rafael Anchía, Dr. Peniel Joseph of the LBJ School, and Laura Murillo of the Houston Hispanic CoC. Talking SB 17, TX demographic change, voting rights, people power, and more. #TribFest24

Highlight of my day: DEI panel. Rafael Anchía spoke on how important it is to learn how to keep getting up when fascism knocks us all down, and he gave me a shoutout as someone with experience in losing and continuing to fight anyway. Great surprise and compliment! #TribFest24

We organize with Haitian-origin farm workers in NY. They’re as American as the apple pie their work makes possible, but right wing racists are spreading dehumanizing lies. Haitians are not eating pets. They’re feeding America. The anti-Haitian bigotry we’re seeing is repulsive.

The debate really is serving as an alarming reminder that we’ve gotta vote. This is unhinged. We can’t do 4 more years of this guy, we haven’t fully recovered yet from the first 4. At minimum our government needs people who deal in reality.

I’m not a political operative but if Harris says “what the fuck are you talking about,” full swears, no censor, she will win the election by 35 points.

Moderator: “I want to turn to race and politics now.” Me: “You could’ve turned to that when he used the racist trope about immigrants eating pets earlier but okay.”

I know lots of folks are laughing at the trans-immigrant-prison word salad, but I want to say bluntly that it’s 1) not okay to use the word he used to describe immigrants, and 2) sad that that’s the only time transness was mentioned, when we 🏳️‍⚧️ are under attack in so many states.

Reminder for folks unfortunate enough to be watching the TX Senate education hearing today: kids are not reading smut in books at school. They’re reading it online. It is 2024 y’all, leave the librarians and teachers alone. 🙄
