Very excited to have been featured in the Node for this month's SciArt profile! Art is a big part of my downtime, and it has inevitably been influenced by the science I do and read, so it's nice to talk about the two and how they link for me. Thanks to the team at the Node!

It was hard to leave Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics today, #morpho23 was incredible🥹. There’s something special about a group coming together that all share similar passions (3 Fs - force, form, and fate 😂). Returning to my lab Gardel Lab with so many ideas I’ll never be able to do them all!

Bumblebees play, possibly just for the fun of it

In a study by Queen Mary University of London, the bees chose to roll wooden balls despite having no reward for doing so. The discovery may be the first documented evidence of insects playing 🐝🏏

Using embryonic tissue from chicken eggs, Fengzhu Xiong is expanding the toolkit of instruments, assays and algorithms to study how developing tissues control their mechanical properties. Live imaging is one technique being refined in the lab.
