The first 25 years you measure success with grades, only to realize that the real value is in learning to learn and critical thinking. The second 25 years you measure success by how much money you made, only to realize that how you spend time, and with whom, is most important.

The FCC is formally requesting comments on expanding the E-Rate program to help school districts more comprehensively address the digital divide that has kept millions of students from continuous instruction while learning from home during the pandemic. edweek.org/technology/fcc…

Each day look for opportunities to find the exquisite in mundane, the elegant in the plain, and the interesting in the boring…search out the non-obvious that resides within the obvious. Have a great day!

Culture is a far greater indicator of the pathway to student success than anything else. Students need to be seen, heard and loved in their learning environment says keynote speaker Ken Shelton. #CoSN2021

🧵 : Today someone asked me, “Aren’t kids going to be overwhelmed by how behind they are?” To which I responded, “Behind whom? And in what ways?” Kids are only going to feel like this if adults MAKE them feel like this. “Learning loss” is an adult problem foisted on kids.#MAedu

Imagine a world where we asked kids what they learned during the pandemic, instead of assessing them on what some disconnected, profit-obsessed testing companies THINK they should have learned.

According to John Hattie, "we need to get better at learning transfer." When students can apply their learning in various settings, we know they have learned and that our teaching has had impact. What has worked to model this concept in your classroom? ow.ly/9IOB50Egg1r

Having a deficit-attitude of our students skews the perception of what we think and expect them to do. Instead of saying "they can't” what if we said, “not yet.” Instead of saying “what's wrong with them?” what if we said, “what can I do to build on their existing strengths?”
