We've welcomed today's announcement by Nicola Sturgeon that Scottish Government intends to extend emergency housing powers to help prevent eviction as a result of rent arrears occurring due to COVID-19. We hope MSPs will support the extension when it is brought to Scottish Parliament. #FMQs

Our staff and volunteers have been working hard to help Glasgow clients keep their jobs and feed their families. Their reward? Glasgow Council emailed us this week to say they won’t be funding us after September. #CABClosure #EastendAdviceAttack #NeverMoreNeeded

I spent a day visiting Parkhead Citizens Advice Bureau in October last year and the queue for advice was down the street by 10am. Everyday, I see the lengths that advisors go through to help their clients. If Glasgow were to lose any of the CABs then it would be a disaster for the communities.

Citizens Advice Scotland welcomes this addition to the Social Tariff market. Social Tariffs are essential in ensuring consumers have access to affordable internet connections and we expect other providers to take note and follow suit.

We welcome this new broadband Social Tariff that will help eligible customers afford broadband. CAS has long advocated that Social Tariffs are essential in ensuring consumers have access to affordable internet connections and we expect other providers to take note and follow suit

Citizens Advice Scotland strongly opposes the reintroduction of fees in the Employment Tribunal system – they will make it even harder for workers to access justice and protect their rights against exploitation or other unlawful practices by employers.

We stand in solidarity with colleagues in Citizens Advice Sunderland. Local CABs provide the help & hope local communities desperately need, making this such a devastating loss. But we also know the strength & resilience that exists in CABs that will help the team to come back from this.

We’ve seen a 60% increase in digitally excluded people coming to Scottish CABs on the last 2 years. Governments and others need to make all services accessible by phone, in writing or in person as well as online. Here's Kyle Scott talking to STV on this issue.
