We've welcomed today's announcement by Nicola Sturgeon that Scottish Government intends to extend emergency housing powers to help prevent eviction as a result of rent arrears occurring due to COVID-19. We hope MSPs will support the extension when it is brought to Scottish Parliament. #FMQs
I spent a day visiting Parkhead Citizens Advice Bureau in October last year and the queue for advice was down the street by 10am. Everyday, I see the lengths that advisors go through to help their clients. If Glasgow were to lose any of the CABs then it would be a disaster for the communities.

Frightening chart from Citizens Advice Scotland’s May 2023 data report shows soaring numbers of online views or advice around mortgages - from the online calculator to repossessions and evictions.
We stand in solidarity with colleagues in Citizens Advice Sunderland. Local CABs provide the help & hope local communities desperately need, making this such a devastating loss. But we also know the strength & resilience that exists in CABs that will help the team to come back from this.
We’ve seen a 60% increase in digitally excluded people coming to Scottish CABs on the last 2 years. Governments and others need to make all services accessible by phone, in writing or in person as well as online. Here's Kyle Scott talking to STV on this issue.
