In honor of Read Across America, I will be celebrating Read Across KS all week. Today I will be in south central KS, starting the day in USD 267 Renwick. Join me all week as we celebrate learning and the work our schools and the State Board of Education are doing around literacy!

It’s a very exciting day as I continue to highlight literacy and great schools in Kansas! I start today in Lewis, reading with students, then off to Great Bend, Hoisington and Chase County.

What a great day yesterday! Saw so many great things happening in schools, including an intense focus on literacy! Today, I get to spend time in Concordia, Manhattan and Kaw Valley. Can’t wait to see the impactful learning taking place in these districts!

In celebration of literacy in Kansas and the work that the State Board of Education is doing to stress the importance of literacy, I am traveling across KS this week. Here are two pictures from Kaw Valley and Manhattan, where I read with some outstanding students!

Kaw Valley USD 321 students spent time reading with Kansas Education Commissioner Randy Watson for Read Across Kansas Week!

Randy Watson Dr. Randy Watson and State Board member Danny Zeck stopped by Tiny Paws Daycare in Holton, Holton USD 336, on Thursday. in celebration of Read Across Kansas week! Their visit featured a special reading session that was enhanced by a puppet show from their teacher!
