Within the last year I hired 2 junior Concept Artists for AAA production. One for environments and the other one for character department. We didn’t have open positions for junior roles but both of them impressed me with portfolios, their attitude and design oriented thinking.

I’ve been working in games for about a decade and all but one non-indie game project I’ve worked on has now been canceled before release.

Going forward I am emphatically pushing for a clause in my contracts that if it gets cancelled I get to show my work. We should all do this.
