Reminder that benefits in the UK are not overclaimed - they are underclaimed. There are literally billions of pounds every year that people are eligible for that aren't claimed, often due to a lack of awareness or the complexity/bureaucracy of the system putting people off.

Thankfully, there was no violent mob response to the past convictions of 2 former Ballymena councillors for sex crimes. Doors weren't kicked in, windows smashed or cars burnt. Yet now thugs are pursuing the collective punishment of those with a dark skin. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/column…

The “welfare reform bill” is out and let’s be clear: this is not reform - it is devastating cuts. Disabled people will be made poorer, sicker, and more isolated as a result. That it is a Labour government causing this misery will be a mark of shame on the party for years to come.

I am a palliative care doctor who is not opposed to AD. But on the eve of tomorrow's vote, it boils down to this. Enshrining in law a state-funded right to die, while not enshrine a similar right to the palliative care that might make life worth living, is deeply wrong. 🧵

I am so so sick of this. The persons who did this, the persons who signed off on this have no place in policing. This was deliberate, vengeful and corrupt theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

Let’s be totally clear: under this so-called concession, a disabled person who needs ALL the following would still lose their PIP: ▪️help cutting up food ▪️help washing below the waist ▪️help dressing their lower body ▪️supervision managing toilet needs Unacceptable.

There's something distinctly dehumanising about offering concessions to 'rebels' rather than addressing disabled people who have been raising concerns for months.

Around 400 Palestinians, including dozens of children, have been killed while trying to get humanitarian assistance. I don’t recall these incidents (including this weekend) leading many papers or news bulletins. Are we really saying a few chants from a couple of musicians is more

Someone shared an article by a known ableist wanker “journalist” to “prove” 3,000 people per day were getting approved for “incapacity benefits” in the 2nd half of 2024. I looked into the data and it proves everything I hate about the Media, and bad data analysis… 1/🧵

There are many British commentators who have made several posts showing deep concern for Rachel Reeves over the last 24 hours but apparently misplaced their phones whilst hundreds of thousands of disabled people were terrified of losing the benefits they need to live.
