Our last PR was sent before the Foreign Sec's statement to Parliament announcing the suspension of 30 licences to Israel - but allowing parts for the F-35 to continue! Just as direct evidence of the use of the F-35 in a war crime emerges. Our revised PR. caat.org.uk/news/investiga…

The UK Government’s decision to suspend some arms licences to Israel is filled with loopholes and does not go far enough. Continuing to supply F35 fighter jet components for Israel is a catastrophic failure for arms control and justice. Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have already

"While this decision appears to demonstrate that the UK has finally accepted the very clear & disturbing evidence of Israeli war crimes in Gaza, it's unfortunately too limited and riddled with loopholes" - Amnesty UK's Sacha Deshmukh independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

It’s welcome if long overdue that the UK is restricting some arms to Israel. But it’s not nearly enough. Exempting components for F35 fighter jets–which are being used to bombard Gaza–is indefensible. theguardian.com/politics/artic…

The UK’s suspension of 30 out of 350 arms export licenses to Israel is a positive step but far from enough. To comply with international law, ALL licenses must be suspended, or those involved could face individual criminal liability for aiding and abetting international crimes.

"Exempting the F-35 fighter jet programme ... is a catastrophically bad decision for the future of arms control and misses a clear obligation to hold Israel accountable for its extensive war crimes and other violations" - Amnesty UK's Sacha Deshmukh theguardian.com/world/article/…

As our CEO said earlier it's not just a "risk" of war crimes being committed by Israeli authorities, there is "considerable evidence". The UK Government’s decision to suspend some arms licences to Israel is filled with loopholes and does not go far enough. #StopArmingIsrael

The Chief Rabbi demeans his own office by consistently encouraging the UK government to ignore its legal and ethical obligations - in this case, advocating for Britain to supply lethal weapons in a genocidal war. 1/2

“The failure of the UK government to suspend all arms transfers to Israel..means that it remains complicit in the death and destruction that Israel’s assault and siege have wrought on Palestinians in Gaza.” Joint UK NGO statement.

A not bad rebuttal from the UK PM to Rishi Sunak regarding suspending some arms licences to Israel - “international law matters”. He’s right on that, which is why he should ensure All arms to Israel are suspended and there should be no more loopholes.

Mental health needs in Gaza were already high pre-Oct '23 due to Israel's occupation & apartheid. Since then, people in Gaza experienced an unprecedented number of traumatic events. Israel's destruction of Gaza's health care prevents even basic treatment reliefweb.int/report/occupie…

UN OCHA update: "Between 27 August and 2 September, Israeli forces killed 30 Palestinians in the West Bank, including seven children, marking the highest weekly death toll since November 2023" This shouldn't be ignored, normalised, or go without punishment.

We really need to enter Gaza to support our Palestinian journalist colleagues and to report. But neither Israel nor Egypt will allow us.

The Israeli military’s campaign to significantly expand a “buffer zone” along the eastern perimeter of #Gaza should be investigated as the war crimes of wanton destruction and collective punishment. Read @Amnesty’s new investigation here: amn.st/6019m4i6l

Last week, 179 healthcare workers gathered at St Thomas’ Hospital to demand freedom & justice for the 179 Palestinian healthcare workers secretly detained by Israeli forces. These healthcare heroes should be saving lives, not being detained. #FreeGazaMedics #EndIsraeliApartheid

The launch of a major humanitarian appeal for Gaza by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is being delayed by the BBC. Insiders have accused the BBC of “blocking” the appeal because the corporation fears a backlash from supporters of Israel’s genocide theguardian.com/world/article/…
