Led by new PhD Matt DeSaix, our latest paper uses advanced low-coverage whole genome sequencing (lcWGS) to uncover the intricate migratory connectivity patterns of American Redstarts 📷 This helps us craft conservation strategies to preserve both numbers and genetic

My babies are back! Last spring I had fledglings captive to deploy loggers at 30+days. Today, I caught the first! To my knowledge, this is the first pied fly tracked on its full first migration! Of all birds, he had to play hard to get and sing at a natural cavity...

Pandemic or no, my fourth field season is happening!! And what a start: 6 loggers from our 'common garden' (4 half-Dutch and 2 Dutchies), which will hopefully reveal the determinants of pop-differences in migration timing & wintering sites. Still amazed!
