Full scholarship available for a curious PhD student to take on one of the most interesting topics in virology: how do capsid proteins assemble into particles with different geometries? Use native MS and cryo-EM with Michael Landsberg ❄️⚛️🔬 at UQ to find out! 🔗griffith.edu.au/research-study…

Yesterday we celebrated Michael’s nomination to the Research Culture Celebration Cambridge University. Thanks for making our lab such an enjoyable place to work and learn, Michael!

It’s my great honour to be an ARC Future Fellowship 2024 recipient. It’s been a dream start for me to establish my own group ANU Research School of Chemistry ourANU. Thanks to UQ Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, UQ Science and CMM@UQ for supporting my application. We will continue to collaborating closely.

We discovered a new immune signaling molecule: N7-cADPR N7-cADPR is produced by phage-stimulated TIR proteins. It activates a bacterial caspase, which then degrades essential proteins to curb infection Preprint: biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… Congrats @FrancoisRousset & Ilya Osterman

Congratulations to Jack Clegg for the 2024 SCANZ Mathieson Medal! Royal Australian Chemical Institute UQ Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences 🥳

Exciting session at Crystal35 conference SCANZ with the “rising star awards” starting with Charles Bayly-Jones Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute 🎉 congrats

Had a blast the last couple of days learning how to use our brand new Oryx8 crystallisation robot from Douglas Instruments! First robot for the lab and first Oryx8 in Australia! 💎 #gulbaliinstitute #charlessturtresearch

2024 UQ Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences Structural Biology division retreat. Another fantastic three days of science, sun and fun!

This week we had the pleasure of hosting cryo-EM guru Oli B. Clarke who gave the UQ News cryo-EM community a fantastic cryo-EM data-processing workshop. Thank you Oli for sharing your tricks with us, Dr Farrah Blades for wrangling the Bunya supercomputer, and all who attended! 🔬

It has been a roller coaster year for me after experiencing extreme happiness and loss. Today I’m starting as a new PI ANU Research School of Chemistry. Very grateful to all my extended academic family Biology at ANU and all past and current mentors. Looking forward to forge new networks and collabs!
