The Joubert-Tradauw Syrah 2016 is from the Tradouw valley near Barrydale and is an excellent example of a fresh yet complex Syrah. A full and lively palate with spicy cherry notes and a savoury hint. Earthy minerality, soft tannins and good acidity followed by a lingering finish.

Karusa Terre Noire 2018. Redish black colour intensity with strong smokey, leather, black pepper and dark roast flavours and an abundance of ripe black fruit-notes of earthy compost. Medium full weight, well structured middle palate and full round tannins with a fresh balance.

Calitzdorp Shiraz 2018. Excellent flavours of cigar box and savoury spices, balanced by wood maturation in French oak for 20 months. Enjoy immediately or mature for 3 – 5 years. Enjoy with spicy, savoury dishes, especially with grilled venison.

Not available everywhere, but worth seeking out.
