Fantastic news! I'm so pleased for econstructdb success at #HeraldPropertyAwards. Well deserved for the hard work and passion they put into the outstanding renovation of Sir William Arrol's former home. From derelict shell to luxury apartments, an example for more to follow.

Happy #BridgeDay! This image from around 1899-1910 depicts the Victoria Bridge at Caputh over the River Tay. It was built by Sir William Arrol and Co. in 1899 and dedicated to the then Queen in honour of her Golden Jubilee. #PerthArtGallery Ref: 2017.63.2 #ExploreYourArchive

There's a lot of discussion around how best to convert great swathes of amenity grassland to flower-rich meadow. It can seem a daunting subject. However, the team behind the Nectar Blockchain Network has a rather nifty solution. Irvine to Girvan Nectar Network @ scottishpollinators.wordpress.com/2023/10/24/irv…

It's been wonderful to partner with TownsWeb Archiving on this project to transform access to our journal. It's now so much easier to search the back catalogue of 30+ volumes here bacs.past-view.com #bizhis

We urgently need your help once again to #SaveCoulLinks 📢 Highland Councillors have today voted to approve plans for a golf course on this internationally important and protected habitat, despite overwhelming opposition.

No prizes for guessing who I've suggested for paisleyfirst.com/project/paisle… Sir William Arrol, of course. With his engineering achievements I can't think of anyone more worthy of being commemorated in the town where he grew up. @Hammermen Institution of Civil Engineers Scotland @ninabake2 @NewshotVideo

Having been a horticulturalist I found the history behind the @Hammermen pear tradition fascinating. It was a very fitting choice and a pleasure to take part in the planting at Seafield House. Thank you @ninabake2 for providing the tree and idea 🍐

With support from Glasgow City Heritage Trust, the Arrol-built steel caisson dock gate will now be restored to working order, which will allow vessels to enter the dock and make use of dry docking facilities, commencing with the re-engining project for the 1933 turbine steamer, Queen Mary.

Sir William Arrol was born #onthisday 1839. Thanks to his pioneering use of steel, his company was contractor for the new Tay Bridge, Forth Bridge, the Titan crane, Clydebank and the superstructure for Tower Bridge. See more at engineeringhalloffame.org/profile/willia…

Such a fabulous exhibition. Every valentine is stunning and each one made using a different technique. You can see the skill and love that went into every stitch ♥️

A fascinating insight from Jamie C. Weir 🦋 If you want to survive in this bird-eat-moth world, don't stand out from the crowd - but don't blend in with them too much either! 🦋 What a great talk at #Paisley Natural History Society last week. #moths #butterflies #birds
