For today’s PA day, TDSB Mathematics & Numeracy & TDSB STEM K-12 welcomed 260 Toronto District School Board math & science teachers to our annual Eureka! STEM conference to deepen their practice & have a great time doing it. The best part of the conference is seeing teachers leading teachers in areas they find valuable.

To the team at Generation Chosen: I’m so glad we could spend some time with you, learning about the good work you’re doing and the real difference you’re making. Together, let’s keep making sure young people have the support they need – and let’s end the stigma around mental health.

On the same page, the researchers highlight the most notable characteristics of "explicit instruction" that benefit students. Does it sound like good, solid teaching? Definitely.

In fact, those practices are so good, they're already embedded in the Ontario Ministry of Education's High-Impact Instructional Practices in Mathematics, practices that I & my math leader colleagues across the province devote our waking hours promoting: assets-us-01.kc-usercontent.com/fbd574c4-da36-…

My favorite slide from one of my favorite talks at NCTM. One of the biggest challenges facing math teachers (whether they know it or not!) is turning wrong answers into learning. Behold! The Super Wrong, Kinda Right continuum. /by Samuel Otten docs.google.com/presentation/d…

My terrific TDSB Mathematics & Numeracy teammates & I held sessions over two days for over 120 Toronto District School Board secondary math leaders on building math content knowledge about linear inequalities, thin-slicing the development of geometry formulas for Grade 10, applying a deeper understanding of direct

I got the chance to tag along with my TDSB Mathematics & Numeracy teammate Marcus Hagley to Meadowvale PS to see some wonderful math learning and the improvement efforts of staff at the school. It was wonderful to see Grade 3 students thinking multiplicatively & flexibly with numbers!

I tagged along with my TDSB Mathematics & Numeracy teammate Greg Saylor to a Grade 10 class at Thistletown CI, TDSB who were solving quadratic equations via factoring, quadratic formula, & graphing using thin-sliced tasks. It was so cool to see the connections students were making between these
