Wk1-Act 5: After reading the article I agree with the conclusion that humans and robots working together is the best way forward. AI can be a valuable tool but in it's current state can be too influenced by human bias and a lack of empathy to work alone. #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk1-Reflect: This week I gained more knowledge around the 5 steps of critical thinking and how to apply these steps to make better decisions. I also learned about the importance of being an adaptable leader to cope with change in a turbulent environment.#OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk2: The focus of this week was precarity, its causes and effects on different groups. While it's a tough topic, it is important to consider how leadership can benefit people in precarious situations and how experiences of precarity can foster leadership.#OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk3: This week focused on populism and the way it divides the "pure" people and the "corrupt" elite, also covering how the term is used (usually in a negative way). Week 3 also looked at charastmatic leadership, it's benefits and dangers of this style. #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk4: This week focused on culture and leadership in multicultural organisations. Learning about how culture develops through past problem solving and the lily pad metaphor was very interesting and made me appreciate the layers of culture in my own org. #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk5: This week I learned more about how to prepare and conduct an interview including learning about Kvale’s (1996) 9 types of qualitative interview questions. I also learned how a blog should be written to engage readers and what makes things newsworthy.#OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk7: This week centered around the idea that our perception of ourselves as leaders can be different to how others perceive us and though we can change some aspects of this (e.g. our behaviours and how we present ourselves), we can never fully control it.#OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk8: This week I examined my own use of each of the 4 styles in the Situational leadership model (Directing, Coaching, Supporting & Delegating), scoring highest on Supportive & Coaching. It's important to adapt and change styles to fit any situation. #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk9: This week looked at collaborative leadership and how leaders can support collaboration. Looking at Huxham and Vangen’s two types of leadership (facilitative vs manipulative) and applying them to real life scenarios was particularly interesting! #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk10: This week explored the web of influences involved in making decisions and how followers can contribute to leadership. The material also covered some relational leadership strategies which will be a useful practical way to implement these learnings! #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk11: This week focussed on conflict and how it isn't always a bad thing and can actually help with finding new perspectives leading to positive change. Grint's exploration of scenarios arising from poor management of dissent was especially interesting. #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk12: This week centered around viewing leadership and collaboration in terms of positive, negative and zero-sum outcome games. Positive (win/win) outcomes are preferred and there are strategies to increase chances but can still be hard to achieve. #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk14: This week marked the start of the #B329LeadershipChallenge and identifying a leadership challenge to tackle. I looked at the differences between tame, wicked and critical challenges and how challenges can be tackled through place-based leadership.#OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk15: This week looked at resistance leadership and the continuum of overt–covert resistance which shows the different forms of resistance available. I also looked at the 4 faces of power and the corresponding resistance that each may be met with. #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk16: This week covered activist leadership and how the purpose in groups can itself provide leadership. I also studied the differences between agonism and antagonism (constructive vs destructive conflict) and leading in precarity using technology. #OUB329 Kristina Risley

Wk17: This week explored social change organisations, their features and the leadership framework they use to enact social change. I also explored reframing a discourse through storytelling to communicate arguments and ideas. #OUB329 Kristina Risley
