Sad reality in some American states.

Kids returning to school shouldn't have to worry about the threat of gun violence, but yet another community has been tragically affected by a school shooting. AAP mourns with all affected in GA and will continue to advocate for policies to keep kids safe and to #EndGunViolence

Last year a bill offering up to $300 tax credit for purchase of gun safe storage equipment passed overwhelmingly out of the House, through Senate Finance, and was on the Senate Rules calendar. The state Senate, headed by LG Burt Jones, refused to bring it to a vote, and it died.

Parents should expect they can send their child to school and they come home safely. A 14 y/o should never have access to a gun. Georgia has an F rating for the strength of its gun laws. We need Child Access Prevention laws now. #SafeStorage

So to recap. Republicans think it's inappropriate to talk about gun safety or violence prevention policy after a mass shooting. They also think it's inappropriate to talk about gun safety or violence prevention policy 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 a mass shooting. That…just about covers it.

This is not a fact of life! Really you’re telling me as a parent we need to just give up and get used to our kids getting shot in schools. Those who are so busy banning books that don’t kill should consider banning guns that do. We do not have to live this way!

I have NO words! An AR-15 is not a gift for a 14 y/o. Clothes, video games, bike those are gifts for teen boy. What kind of world are we living in? We need child access prevention laws in this state. In states that have CAP laws they have a reduced rate of homicide, suicide.
