By securing nearly $1 million in wrongfully denied public benefits and specialized funding, we ensured children and young adults received vital services like medical treatment, developmental therapies, and other resources essential to their well-being.

We're thrilled to announce that AB 495, the Family Preparedness Plan Act, has been signed into law by Governor Newsom! ✨ Co-sponsored by Public Counsel, this new law is a monumental victory for family unity and child safety.

Meet Ka-Leah, a true inspiration. When she entered foster care at 14, she faced constant change and isolation. But through it all, she never lost sight of her dream. Ka-Leah went on to graduate from UC Irvine and is now pursuing a paralegal certification at UCLA.

Due to the government shutdown, the USDA has announced that SNAP benefits will NOT be issued starting November 1st. To help fill the gap, Governor Newsom is fast-tracking $80 million in state funding and deploying the National Guard to assist food banks statewide.
