The Hot97 paddy duke situation is a little weird. I think it speaks to a couple of things in our society. It’s easy to make it a purely racial thing. But honestly we forget that background checks weren’t implemented they were are now.....

Meaning that in the early 90s late 80s Hot97 would’ve not done a background check on paddy duke. My question is this though, would it have mattered? Paddy was cleared of those charges connected to the Hawkins case. I don’t think an employer can deny you...

You employment because you were accused of a crime but then acquitted. The other issue that I have with this situation has to do with how we treat people that have committed a crime in our society. If you commit a felony a great number of people feel you shouldn’t be able to work

I just feel no matter what your skin color is. If you committed a crime and you did your time for it, there should be a way for you to reclaim your status as an American citizen again. Voting rights, housing rights, gainful employment.... etc
