Enjoyed the opportunity to present to the Georgia Hospital Association Center for Rural Health meeting at Saint Simmons today. Great group of hospital leaders from rural Georgia ready to work together to improve the system.

I was honored to attend and speak at the Georgia School of Addiction Studies at Savannah today. Thank you to Jeff Breedlove for doing a great job as moderator. There were lots of recovery champions in the room. I also enjoyed meeting with the Gateway CSB leadership team.

I was honored to present the family of Dr. Ellice Martin with her Commissioner’s Champion Award today. Dr. Martin served on the DBHDD Board for many years and passed away in July. She was a fierce advocate for our most vulnerable citizens. She is missed.

Had to get up earlier than normal to make it to Madison County to speak to their Rotary Club at 7 am this morning. It was worth it to meet this great group of community leaders.

Enjoyed the opportunity to sit down with Kennesaw State’s AMES Center leadership team today.

In a lot of ways it has been a tough day for our staff in Georgia. However, we did get to kick off the Georgia Recovery Bus Tour at the Capitol today. I then was able to speak at the Certified Peer Specialist Conference in Stone Mountain. Recovery is real!

It was a pleasure to be able to present at the Georgia Bar Office in Atlanta this morning. I also always enjoying having someone from my hometown stop in for a visit. Shyla Sheffield completed her undergraduate degree, plans to get her masters and then go to work helping others.

Enjoyed getting to visit with Georgia Department of Veterans Services Russell Feagin today and Senators Chuck Payne and Rick Williams in Milledgeville today. Also, had a great visit with our hospital staff there including COO Anthony Green and Andre Morris.

A pleasure for Ron Wakefield, Dr. Jeff Thompson and I to meet with Kelly Kannwischer to learn about the incredible new nonprofit her church has started in Buckhead to serve young men and women with developmental disabilities.

Busy and productive day. Honored to have the opportunity to speak at the 6th Annual Recovery Lunch at the Buckhead Club. This afternoon we completed the training for the statewide advisory committee for the opioid trust settlement. A lot of good things happening in Georgia.

I had the opportunity to serve as the speaker at the Atlanta Senior Care Network meeting in Sandy Springs this morning. Great group.

Spent yesterday and today in Fulton, Missouri. We traveled there to take a look at a 300 bed behavioral health hospital that an architect we are working with designed. Georgia needs additional capacity, and we are working hard to improve these services.

Enjoyed spending time at our Columbus Campus at our regional office with a great staff. Also, got to have lunch with my girl, Kaitlyn Tanner, who is in medical school in Columbus.

Enjoyed sitting down with Aisha Howard 11Alive Anchor today to discuss our work. I was also honored to participate in a panel discussion with First Lady Marty Kemp at the Atlanta Aquarium.

It was an honor to be able to speak in Augusta today at the ground breaking for the State’s newest behavioral health crisis center that will be operated by our CSB partner Serenity. I was then pleased to present to the House Rural Development Council in Thomson.
