We have a new volunteer case display! It explores how Robert Southey's political views changed over his writing career. How did Southey go from a supporter of the French Revolution to a defender of the establishment? Just in time for #GeneralElection2024

Thanks to Keswick Museum for organising today’s panel discussion with Philippa Harrison, Dr Charlotte May and our own Dr Penny Bradshaw to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Robert Southey’s birth. Crosthwaite Church was the perfect venue, with Southey himself watching on 📚

It was such a pleasure to share more of our Southey collection with visitors today and talk to them about his life and work. One visitor even said he deserves to be better known - and we agree! We are proud to tell Southey's story all year round 📜✍️
