Every third person in #Sudan has been uprooted by war. Behind these numbers are real people—mothers, children, students—who need our continued support. Their strength endures, but they cannot do it alone.

Three years of war in #Ukraine . Three years of loss, resilience and courage. Millions remain displaced, families torn apart and lives forever changed. Our commitment endures—standing with those who have lost so much, but refuse to lose hope.

An appeal to European leaders from a lifetime humanitarian: as you discuss boosting defense spending please don’t overlook humanitarian aid, which faces devastating cuts. Aid, too, is about keeping your countries safe. Aid promotes stability. And a stable world is a safer world.

Media are largely silent on this topic. Nobody mentions it in political debates. Millions of lives worldwide are being affected by brutal cuts in international aid. Soon we will see more people die unnecessarily, children go hungry, and many move on, desperately seeking help.

When we turn to our closest allies, Japan is there, standing firm in supporting us to respond to refugee needs worldwide. Today’s exchange with Mr. AKAHORI Takeshi MOFA of Japan reaffirmed Japan's commitment to humanitarian action & to UNHCR’s role in these collective efforts.🙏🏼
