Currently waiting for a response from ATGtickets about access tickets, DWP about my disability benefit and my NHS specialist about my disability. LOVE BEING DISABLED. There's so much help with everything, it's great.

Migraine is disabling and not just a #headache! Unfortunately Dehenna Davison's resignation due to chronic #migraine is just another indication that more #research, treatments and early access to #treatments are needed to avoid chronification! bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…

Just read Dehenna Davison article The Times and The Sunday Times. So many true statements! Nobody knows of #medication overuse #headache. #Workplaces don't understand #migraine. Access to migraine #treatments is too complicated, too slow, and for many people, too expensive. Most important statement:

Today is #TrigeminalNeuralgia #Awareness day. Rare but severe facial #pain affecting V2&V3 brances of the trigeminal nerve with tremendous impact on patients & their families. With the support of Medical Research Foundation my lab @WolfsonCARD makes important research on novel & safe #treatments.

For The New Yorker, I wrote about my attempt to understand dizziness: a sensation that is hard to medically pin down, and even harder to describe. This piece brought me to a German center for dizziness, a labyrinth in France, and ultimately, back to myself. newyorker.com/culture/annals…

Boris Johnson asked why damage was being inflicted on the economy during the pandemic “for people who will die anyway soon”, the Covid inquiry found. Disabled people have always known how our lives were viewed as disposable by ministers but it’s still brutal reading it.

Poverty levels in the UK are “not acceptable” and the government is violating international law, the United Nations poverty envoy said ahead of a visit to the UK this week. 7 in 10 people referred to food banks are Disabled! No more poverty for Disabled people! msn.com/en-gb/news/ukn…

From today, disabled people in the U.K. will effectively work for free for the rest of the year. Disabled women face an even bigger pay penalty of 30% – or £3.73 an hour.

I’m tired of the Tories targeting benefit claimants. I’m tired of explaining to people who should know better why it is both immoral and illogical. I’m tired of the ease with which the rich and healthy target those who weren’t blessed with their advantage. I’m tired.

There are 14 million Disabled people in the UK. and about 4.8 million of them are claiming PIP. Dear chancellor, please tell me how all these people will fill the 700 home-working jobs you demand which are on the DWP site Maths was never my strong point, or yours apparantly

Today’s #AutumnStatement won’t help disabled people with the cost-of-living crisis. Instead, it painted disabled people as scroungers. We won’t stand for it. Join our call for an equal future 👉 brnw.ch/21wEGhp

One reason “get to work” policies are so cruel for disabled people is that losing their career was devastating. Sitting on the sofa is nice for a weekend but less so if you’re doing it for thirty years and in pain. Being told you “don’t want it enough” is psychologically brutal.

Frances Ryan (@drfrancesryan) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Tory attack on benefits is performative cruelty. It won’t boost employment or even make big savings. But it will hurt the right people. My col. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Not doing any pundit/writing on Ricky Gerv*is’s r-word stunt. Punching down is the last grasp of the unfunny and anyone defending jokes about terminally ill kids are the biggest losers on earth. Also, editors hire people with learning disabilities to discuss this please!

Sending love to every clinically vulnerable person dealing with covid-doubting family over the holidays. May I suggest turning it into a drinking game. “Masks don’t work.” SHOT. “It’s fine because we have vaccines now.” SHOT. “It’s just like the flu.” BOTTLE OF VODKA NEAT.

This is a must read myth-buster from Polly Toynbee on why the number of people claiming disability benefits in the U.K. is rising. (Spoiler: contrary to what the right wing press say, it isn’t because more people are trying their luck.) theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Disabled grief is extremely complex. It’s not just the pandemic grief, it’s the grief of losing abilities over time. It’s the grief of the life we’ll never have. It’s the grief of the things we missed out on because of our pain. The grief many of us feel is compounded.
