Had a great lunch with some Retired & Rewired Chamber Execs today. Always great to get caught up.

We had a couple of VVIPs in The Grotto this afternoon…. Michael and Glenda Lloyd stopped by. Back when we were part of the working class, Glenda and I spent most of our time talking about Chamber events. Now, the talk is about family and our most recent trips. 😀

I had a great conversation in The Grotto this afternoon with Tim Caddigan. While Tim is looking after community relations, public relations and community television for Cogeco in all of Cogeco’s North America operations, I’m reading a lot of books — and doing some gardening.

There was a plentiful plethora of Past Chairs (Rick Burgess 2005; Phil Evenden 2012; John Goodwin 2018) in the grotto for some après golf conversation. Lots of talk about what’s going on in the Chamber world. Always a great afternoon for me when I’m with some of my old bosses.

Today we had a great day trip to Goderich. We saw the Goderich lighthouse, the Manesetung bridge, the historic gaol, the courthouse square and some great fall colours. We made sure to stop in at Culbert’s Bakery to stock up for the ride home.

Today was our last round of the year (yes, we’re fair-weather golfers) followed by après golf (we love our après golf). It was a great year of golf with some of my former bosses (Burlington Chamber Past Chairs).

I had a great meeting with some amazing Chamber peers today - Charlene, David & Scott. (Missing from the photo is Drew from the Oakville Chamber who Zoomed in from the maritimes). Most of us are retired but we still love talking about the ups & downs in the Chamber network.

Christmas baking has begun. My handmade 1/4” and 1/8” rolling pins get a real workout this time of year.

I made homemade pasta for our spaghetti dinner tonight. I’m still struggling with getting the consistency right. It’s a lot of work but I think it’s worth it.

Today I had a great holiday get together with a bunch of Past Chairs from the Burlington Chamber of Commerce. At some point in my 15 years at the Chamber, each of these people was my boss. So happy that they included me after five years of retirement.

I’m a big fan of CBC’s At Issue Videos. I have to say, it’s much better with everyone in the same room.

My latest project. It’s a bowl of spalted maple. It’s the most expensive piece of wood I’ve turned into a bowl. I learned a while ago, if the wood is simple, make a complicated shape; if the wood itself is beautiful, make a simple shape. This simple bowl is all about the wood.
