Just read that the European Commission has set a target to reduce the “overall use and risk” of pesticides by 50% by 2030 under its new Farm to Fork strategy - Yikes! Hopefully the brakes will come off Biotech options such as gene editing as alternative means of crop protection?

The European Commission has acknowledged that new biotechnology techniques “may play a role” in its Farm to Fork strategy on sustainable agriculture whereby Agchem usage will be reduced by 50%, but has given no further details yet, this is an encouraging first step.
