"They are now paid for time when the plane is moving." We haven't seen the agreement yet but if true then CUPE has really shown us how it's done and that workers should never back down in the face of draconian back-to-work orders. Congrats to the union! ctvnews.ca/canada/article…

CUPE flight attendants defied a Section 107 back-to-work order, forced #AirCanada back to the bargaining table, and successfully bargained a tentative agreement. A new page of Canadian labour history has been written today. cbc.ca/player/play/vi… #cndpoli #canlab

Flight attendants at Air Canada have shown workers acting in solidarity can defy a crackdown on their rights—and strike for a better deal, including ending unpaid work. As Carney prepares major cuts and attacks on public sector workers, it’s a model for bold labour action.

Mark Carney moves further right by calling for major spending cuts while increasing military spending, gives in to Trump at every available opportunity, and (post this poll) invited the Project 2025 mastermind to a cabinet meeting. The result, Conservative Party now leads.

The Mayor has cited public drug use & discarded needles as reasons for the state of emergency. It's time for the province & city to support an Overdose Prevention Site in Barrie. The evidence demonstrates that these services reduce public drug use & discarded needles.

Repeat, ad nauseum: homelessness is a solvable social issue. But until we treat it as such, governments — like that of Barrie — will continue to frame it as both criminal and intractable. We will continue to hate homeless people instead of homelessness. thestar.com/news/ontario/b…

After the City of Barrie declared an emergency on homelessness, one former Councillor is speaking out. Keenan Aylwin tells John Moore that "true safety comes from support and housing," but unfortunately all 3 levels of government have gotten out of providing affording housing.

“I see the mayor blaming people who are experiencing homelessness... that’s a political strategy to pit people against each other, to blame some of the most vulnerable people in our community for what is really a policy failure on all levels.”

As shocking as it is that children are participating in the assault and murder of homeless people, it isn't the first time in Toronto. Violent rhetoric against homeless people begets real-life violence — what are we instilling in young minds? Devastating. thestar.com/news/gta/man-1…

Canada's true crisis is the everyday emergency of just trying to get by in an impossible economy. I’m running for NDP leader so we can transform a system rigged for the rich—together. We need a government that serves the many, not the money. Join in. lewisforleader.ca

When Canada needed oil during WWII, Imperial was under Crown control serving the public interest. Now it's 70% owned by ExxonMobil. Billions in profits, cutting 1 in 5 jobs. The biggest enemy of fossil fuel workers is not climate activists. It's the industry itself.

Homeless people are under siege in Canada. Tonight the City of Barrie is voting on whether to prohibit sleeping on city property - even if they have nowhere else to sleep. Sleep is necessary for life. Draw your own conclusions. Here's our letter to the City.

My Blue Jays A socialist reverie… My Dad took me to the first Blue Jays game in 1977. It was so cold in Exhibition Stadium (“The Mistake by the Lake”) that asses were freezing to the aluminum bleachers. It snowed, people left. We stayed, the Jays won! I haven’t followed every

This is why we can't rely on the market for housing. Even with substantial breaks on development charges to developers, housing construction isnt happening at the pace we need. Housing is a human right. We need governments at all levels to build social housing NOW.
