Finishing the #ECBB2024 conference with a plenary by @ethoges Tinbergen Award winner Zegni Triki! We’ve learned that fish have very plastic brains, and their cognitive abilities are affected by factors like social enrichment and ecological selective pressures during ontogeny 🐟🐟

I've had a brilliant week in Zurich for #ECBB2024! Feeling very grateful for the opportunity to present my work and meet so many cool people doing cool research. Finished up today with a trip to the zoo, they even had quails ! 🐥

Day 6 - happy to report the chicks are doing very well! They grow so fast, you can spot their little wings starting to peak through the fluff 🐥

Fitting our gulls with GPS trackers ahead of their release later this week!

Big day for the chicks! We moved them into their big enclosures and they met some new friends 🐥❤️🐥

In collaboration with VOC Oostende we are tracking the movements of five hand-reared oystercatchers recently released into the wild!🦪You can already see behavioural differences in their first 7 days👀

Day 10 - nice to see the chicks starting to use the perches I built for them!

Today we released the 1st batch of gulls with a GPS tracker (2nd batch next week). This marks the end of another gull season. We have again collected data for several projects, including not 1 but 2 PCI Registered Reports! (1/3)

Excited to be able to talk bird-science with the public next Saturday at VOC Oostende !
