Create a new google doc for every submission. Name each doc with magazine submitting to and date. If a poem is accepted somewhere, search for the poem (either by title or by a line in the poem of title is a common word), then notify magazines that it’s no longer available 🎉

Apparently including “don’t make it haiku” as the last part of a short syllabic poetry prompt is the best way to get many, many haiku attempt submissions.

And here I thought my favorite thing to be called in a submission note was “Katie” 😆

I like picking a short, resonant line about 70% of the way through the manuscript. Such a fun “ahaaaaa” for the reader to see the title tucked inside a poem, and it creates a natural arc 🌈
