The emissions from Elon Musk's private jet flight *one way* to travel to watch a football match are double that of the annual emissions from one person in the most emissions intensive country on Earth (Qatar, of course) toot-linker.altryne.workers.dev/m/mastodon.soc… github.com/owid/co2-data

One final visualisation for the year from me and the DSI team working with the awesome @jesskatedavis. In Australia, the line between drought and flood feels like it can change in the blink of an eye. abc.net.au/news/2022-12-2…

My fave line from this report: “People make or break advocacy; & advocacy can make or break people.” #ausag has a wealth of human capital, but doesn’t always treat this with respect, especially when it comes to #advocating … Fiona Simson Gillian Fennell Georgie Somerset Tony Mahar

One of the most simple & profound statements I learned in years of study was: ** There is no ‘away’. ** Throwing something away just means passing responsibility onto the next person - next suburb, next town, next country, next generation. Convenience does not excuse apathy.

Not a fan of public shaming, but would ❤️ to know why nbn® Australia & Telstra think this cable sticking up in footpath for 3.5 days is NOT an urgent #safety issue 🤷‍♀️ And yes, it’s been reported, investigated, followed up, but NOT fixed. And yes, internet & phone are down 🙄
