Many tx @ChurchgateSinfonia for an excellent comeback concert – it’s been a while. Delightful Krommer, strong playing in Britten’s Simple Symphony. And Haydn 83: Suzanne Dexter-Mills cond. with beautiful phrasing and clear articulation.

If you are still wearing a mask when you go out, please retweet this status. I would just like to see how much common sense is still out there.

Dunno about Irish Setters, but our Britsh Mog Barley (alright, full name Ginger Baker Barley Jupiter Pussycat Deane Thomas) loves all cheese. And asparagus butter. And rabbits.

And one for Prof Martin Fautley. In one of the Savoy Operas WS Gilbert misquotes from Hamlet: where and what is the quote? And what is the misquote? (Hint: it reduces the rank of a royal to a mere nonentity.)

You, now a-bed, think yourselves accursed you were fighting for a good view of the Jubilee celebrations, not paying attention to the endless quotable quotes quoted in Brett Dean’s Hamlet, ranging from Brevity is the soul of wit to Something is rotten in the state of Denmark

While tens of thousands of Jubileers lined the Mall, a third of a million opera fans in cinemas across the globe were overwhelmed by Brett Dean’s Hamlet (Glyndebourne & Metropolitan Opera). Best opera since Death in Venice. Huge shout-out for Allan Clayton as Hamlet.

Tx for the "listening:" a role that's frequently forgot. Not sure about the "enjoy", hpwever: deep listening often provokes uncomfortable emotions.

John finney For some young people it IS exceptional. But, by no means, all young people. It can change some lives. What we don't really know enough about is how, or why, or for how many, or it what ways, or in what context(s), or for the better (or worse)?

Very tricky, the position of this pendulum. Work me and my colleagues did for Youth Music argued something close to 'redemptive powers' - but once in cold hard print some started to find this too much

Agreed, to an extent as I said in my keynote to an ISME conference (what seems like) a quarter of a century ago. but then again, the body of work and research is improving all the time. I am so happy whenever I stumble across a paper that criticises practice.
