5.30.20 ✨ Max and I were married in a small, intimate ceremony! It was a lot different than we pictured but the day was so magical. Truly could not ask for a better day and so happy to call Max my husband!! ❤️

Wanted to share a few thoughts that have been helpful for me lately. My sister @ChristinaCIM shared something with me that deeply impacted me that she had learned.

My sister said when we are engaging in behaviors that impact us negatively to pay attention to the thought that comes right before the behavior. For me, I have a lifelong struggle with saying yes to too much and not taking care of myself..

My therapist helped me identify the thought that I have when I choose not to take care of myself and instead focus on others, running errands, to do list, etc. even when I’m really hurting and needing to take care of myself. That thought is, “There isn’t time/room for my needs.”

I believe I developed this belief in early childhood as a result of being in a caretaker role in a big family from a young age. I learned to focus on others constantly, even to the detriment of my own mental and emotional health. I’ve been perpetuating it ever since.

Knowing this information has been greatly helpful for me. This morning, I was emotionally worn out and wanted to journal and reflect. My mind immediately went to my to-do list and all I needed to get done, but being conscious of my belief, I was able to choose journaling/prayer.

It’s not a cure-all but it’s progress. And mental health/ well being is all about progress over perfection. Just small steps in the right direction! That gives me hope.

I’ve been struggling a lot with my mental health the last few weeks, but I’m starting to see a light breaking through the clouds. What’s truly important is standing out in my mind; love of God, connection with family and friends, a purposeful career, self-love. 💜

I really encourage you guys, if you have habits/ behaviors that you don’t like that you do, ask yourself where they are stemming from. What’s the root belief? What’s the thought that comes before? Awareness is a HUGE step forward in healing.

And on the other side of the coin, if you have things you WANT to be doing but you just can’t seem to get yourself to do them, dig deep and ask why. Maybe grab your journal and write on it for a bit. I bet the answer is there, if you dig a bit! 💜

Lately I’ve also been trying to take the pressure off of myself with the constant self-guilt tripping. I’m trying to truly craft a life that I love by asking, what are the activities that bring me joy and peace?

Things like spending time with my husband, friends, God and family come easily to me. But other things like reading great books, taking time to journal, and going on long reflection walks takes more self knowledge to know that I’m WORTH that alone time to reflect and process.

Hey can you guys send me some pics of us in Brazil?! I’m having a hard time finding good ones! Those shows were SO amazing. Loudest crowd I have ever heard 🤯
