Yet another childcare provider closing in the absence of the promised financial support. Parents are also facing tough decisions about coming out of work or reducing their hours as they cannot afford the childcare they need.

This is a crisis & urgent action needed.

With PlayDen closing in South Belfast, parents & providers are continuing to suffer due to our lack of childcare strategy. Today I made a plea that this is dealt with urgently & we learn from mistakes across the water & develop a bespoke childcare subsidy scheme for NI.

Extraordinary that the childcare affordability task & finish group - the cross-departmental group that is developing interim support & childcare strategy - has only met twice since it’s inception. Hardly instills confidence this is being dealt with the urgency/ambition required.

The UKG must repeal the unethical legislation of the Illegal Migration Act (IMA) and the Rwanda Act, says Stephen Farry MP.
