A lovely write-up of the care history conference we held back in March -
'it’s important for this knowledge to be shared especially across countries. It provides a greater context and through shared learning it can help improve care for the future.'
Thanks Marissa Roxburgh!
New blog! History Of Parliament database was really useful for my work measuring stigma towards illegitimate children in the 18th C - turns out lots of MPs and aristos had illegitimate families whilst presiding over laws excluding them from power and privilege 👀

A great write-up of the Compassion and Care conference held at the John Rylands Research Institute and Library back in March organised by me and Claudia Soares @claudiajsoares.bsky.social by researcher Jenni Räikkönen for SSHM (@sshmedicine.bsky.social)

A great start to London Foundling Hospital: An Online Conference, hearing from Claudia Soares @claudiajsoares.bsky.social Dr Kate Gibson Roberta Zanasi and Elina Saloranta about emotional histories.
Now listening to papers about foundling ‘families’ from Anthony Annakin-Smith, Janette Bright and Roy Sloane
I know this is a long shot, but our much-loved indoor cat Rosie escaped overnight in S11 #Sheffield & is lost. If people who have local contacts could please share this as widely as possible, I would be so grateful. Any sightings (or a capture) would be incredible. Help Sheffield
'When you scour the archives looking for traces of [ayahs' and amahs'] experiences and voices, you can find them. They are only traces, of course, but they are precious'
This 👇🏾 from Julia Laite ([email protected]) for History Workshop is a wonderful read:
