National BtC guidelines looking at evidence re training care home staff in use of formulations. Unfortunately little evidence of sustained use even after good training - see why below. Similar reasons for limited use of DCM in care homes. So if not supported, don’t teach!??

A top paper from our BtC guidelines lit search. This 2022 'review of systematic reviews' finds 3 consistently effective interventions for management of 'agitation': improving staff communication skills, person-centred care & DCM with supervision. Quality interactions are key!

Arousal graph presented #FPOP_2022 conference. It is important we provide guidance on dealing with high levels of stress and distress in dementia care. We should not collude with care homes who claim they can provide care without using some form of restrictive practices.
