Mindbogglingly incorrect. Leave the epidemiology to the epidemiologists please. But keep up the good work with the vaccines! Lots of exciting things in development.

'Proteins do not evolve to cause disease --humans, mice, frogs, even sea anemones all produce Aβ.' A reminder that at picomolar (physiologic) concentrations, Aβ42 helps synaptic plasticity and memory. Sure, at the nanomolar scale it is as toxic as insulin.

Viewpoint from Madhav Thambisetty and Robert Howard discusses how data gaps in published research impede clinicians’ ability to clearly discuss the risks and benefits of amyloid-lowering drugs for treating Alzheimer disease. ja.ma/44xljPo

This might be the editorial of the year.

What we do to older people in the name of safety can be awful. I hope JAMA Internal Medicine makes this open access.

Do read EW👇🏻👇🏻The argument transcends the folly of “thickened liquid” diets —> to the importance of evidence

Dementia is littered with interventions like thickened liquids & PEG tubes that became standard of practice on theoretical benefits without clinical evidence. My editorial in JAMA Internal Medicine gives 3 recs to consider if thinking about thickened liquids

Excellent thread synthesizing our frantic work over the weekend resulting in a rapid response The BMJ . Some of the points we raise have not, to my knowledge, been discussed before and I suspect they are germane to other meta-analyses on this topic

Twitter has focused mostly on a very glaring error of using the standard error in place of the standard deviation, but there are many other methodological problems in this recent meta-analysis of psilocybin for depression.

Clearly ridiculous claims not backed up by peer reviewed RCTs. However, some of the hyperbolic claims made for the amyloid antibodies are just as wild and non-data based. Alzheimer’s people - please don’t be this guy.

It pains me to see facile critiques of GWAS on here from our clinical/biostats friends while the many actually good reasons to be critical of GWAS get little attention. So here's a thread on what GWAS does, what critics get wrong, and where GWAS is genuinely still lacking. 🧵:
