Poplars……

Anyone else in the #nocmig community had issues with equipment being tampered with or stolen? Had my SD card removed from my recorder at RSPB Bempton Cliffs in a very small window of time, very early with only birders and photographers on site!

Did a full nights sound recording at RSPB Bempton Cliffs on Saturday night, pleased to be recording when the Firecrest appeared right by us calling at 6.00am, checked the recorder was still running, which it was, left it unattended for an hour and someone stole the SD card! Gutted!

Superb weekend in Yorkshire, first bird of the day at Bempton at first light was a calling Firecrest right by the van door this morning! Velvet Scoter past Hornsea another highlight yesterday morning.

It’s International Buzzard day, so in salute I painted this juvenile common buzzard, now the UK’s most common bird of prey. Not that long ago, they were fairly unusual. So hats off to all you buzzards. #vultureawarenessday
