Everything has a place in our game but overexposure for players and an over reliance by coaches for these environments can impact a players long-term development. It’s becoming a bigger issues at younger ages every year.

Great clip by VGK21 using deception to sell the pass and force SJ defender to switch his stick positioning, creating a lane to the net. Subtle deception that creates space!

Parents and players shouldn’t confuse playing time with development. Minutes alone don’t make you better – deliberate, game-context reps do. Real growth comes from training & unstructured free play several times a week, if not daily. Game time will never replace true development.

Nice job by CAR D getting inside positioning on F1 to win line to the puck & winger using body to counter the D pinch and set up the goal. Great examples of winning/preserving the line to the puck to set up the next play 👌

Two teams in different stages of their development but both are incredibly fun to watch. Nothing better than watching players buy in, share the puck and have success doing so. Colorado is a wagon and Utah will be one to watch in the years to come.

Those training environments are simply a crutch used by instructors with limited knowledge of the game and they are really hurting development at young ages, especially up here in Canada.

Following up on this as there’s some discourse saying everything’s fine in Canada and if they had the likes of Celebrini and a few other NHLers they would have won and we wouldn’t be having this conversation. And they’re right. Canada would’ve had a much better shot at gold if

Nice O-zone clip from the Islanders last night. All three forwards working the wall down low with great puck protection and support. Pulock identifies and jumps into open ice downhill to create an option for the goal. Fun team to watch this year 👌

Connor Hellebuyck: Never played Tier 1. Never played in The Brick. Never played Quebec PW. Never made a Development Camp. Did play HS hockey. Did play NAHL. Did play NCAA D1. Did win a Vezina. Did win Olympic gold. And yet we’ve got parents stressing over which 8U team 🤯

If there were ever a stat to challenge the notion that you have to play on a super team or a team ranked high on My Hockey Rankings to make high level hockey, here it is. Unreal insight from USHL commissioner Glenn Hefferan: Even after taking out kids from Minnesota (which is

I went to junior hockey a year too early. It was the hardest year of my life. Thank God I have a great family that supported me through the tough moments. But here’s the thing… My family always told me the truth and never let me make excuses. Even though we may have made the
