#MeetAScientist: Kamila Iskhahova just started her #phd at HZG within the eu project #MgSafe. Her aim is to link ultrastructure and biomechanical properties of bone adjacent to biodegradable magnesium implants. We are happy to have you in the team @Kiraikarika!

At the experimental hutch in DESY (DESY (English)), at one of the HZG (HZG) beamlines, Jon and Kamila are setting up partially degraded samples for X-ray diffraction (XRD) scans. With the results, they are able to acquire information on degradation products of the samples. #MgSafe

Update from #MgSafe: (1) Florian Wieland (HZG) and Kamila Iskhakova performed a SAXS/WAXS study at the P12 BioSAXS beamline (EMBL) DESY (English). They studied the collagen orientation in bone explants with Maryam Rahmati and Håvard J Haugen from Universitetet i Oslo, who prepared the samples.

Some more impressions by Begüm Okutan and Hanna Slominska from the #MgSafe Workshop this week 🤗 On the agenda was two days media training with HZG, Tim Schröder and Pro-Test and one day multimodality and photoacoustics imaging with FUJIFILM VisualSonics. Great week 💪🏼

#MgSafe researchers @PlumhoffBerit and Kamila Iskhakova had measurement time at the P07 beamline to check if they could look at the crystalline structure of the bone around the degradable implants in 3D high resolution 🤓🦴💎
